The Rénolution grants of the Brussels-Capital Region have been suspended since 1 January 2025. Here is a clear overview: what still exists, what may return, and how to prepare your renovation now.

Background
What were the Rénolution grants?
Launched in January 2022, the Rénolution grants merged three former Brussels schemes (energy grants, housing renovation grants and facade beautification grants) into a single system, with one grouped application through the IRISbox electronic counter.
They covered insulation (roof, walls, floors), window frames and glazing, heating, ventilation and renewable energy, for any building in the Brussels-Capital Region older than 10 years, with amounts scaled to household income. A central condition: the works had to be carried out by professionals, and the application submitted within 12 months of the last balance invoice.
2025-2026
Why the suspension?
The scheme proved so popular that the annual budget was exhausted as early as August 2024, leading to successive freezes and reopenings that caused much confusion among homeowners.
Since 1 January 2025, the Rénolution grants have been suspended: no application can be submitted for balance invoices dated 2025 or 2026. The Brussels government has confirmed the end of the scheme in its current form and announced a replacement by zero-interest loans — with no known start date at this time.

What is still possible in 2026.
The suspension of the grants does not mean there is no aid left. Here is what can still be used to reduce the cost of your renovation.
Reduced 6% VAT
For renovation works carried out by a registered contractor in a property over 10 years old, used for private purposes. The supply of materials is included at the reduced rate when invoiced with the installation. We apply it systematically whenever your project qualifies.
ECORENO loan
A regional loan dedicated to financing the renovation of a Brussels dwelling, available to owners and future owners. It allows you to pre-finance the works while waiting for possible new grants.
Communal and soil grants
Some Brussels municipalities offer their own grants for works or soil studies. This aid can be combined with regional schemes: check with your municipality before starting the works.
Free advice
Regional bodies such as Homegrade give free advice to individuals on energy renovation, priorities and financing — a good step before costing out your project.
